This photo of this beautiful pinwheel comes from my friend, June. From time to time, she has shared this picture with me and told me she is thinking of me or some story I’ve told, or reminiscing about the day she found the pinwheel, or contemplating the meaning of the pinwheel as a symbol. That’s what pinwheels can do to you! Once you know the secret mystery they possess, pinwheels can forevermore remind you of symbolism and power and special times. June's Pinwheel Power Symbol June told me she found this pinwheel in a forest... [Read more]

This pinwheel has a lot going on! Look at her spin! Eight mini-pinwheels all in sync spinning furiously in the wind. Isn’t she dazzling, colorful, and glitzy sparkling in the sun in a vibrant sky of blue! But wait…let’s hope all this spinning is not actually representative of dizzying lifelessness. Sometimes we can take on too much. Sometimes we can become stuck on a stick of endless movement. It all looks good and kind of even feels good because it all seems to work and, like this shiny pinwheel, all the activity becomes mesmerizing stop... [Read more]

I was reminded the other day by a friend that our typical spring cleaning tasks can yield wonderful symbolic moments of opening, new beginnings, and new knowledge. Even the simple, mundane chores involved in yard cleanup can help you see what might ordinarily remain unseen. It all depends on what you find. And if you are willing to see with new eyes. a timeless universal symbol for new beginnings My friend simply stated that she had spent most of the day raking her yard. Because her yard is dense with Oak trees, she had to contend with thousands... [Read more]
Giant Pinwheels in the Sky: Metaphors for Life

Windmills, to me, are like giant pinwheels in the sky. They come in all sorts of shapes and varieties. They are in all sorts of conditions. Some are new and shiny while others are old, rusty, in disrepair, and in need of missing parts. Some have no wheel at all — the wheel long gone onto some other life journey. Some spin slowly, more deliberately. Others more furiously, deliriously. Some stand tall and proud. Others are more listless and tired. All windmills are life-givers. They bring water and electricity to farms and ranches all over the... [Read more]
The Pinwheel Girl is Nude! Why is that?

Anatomy of a Pinwheel Girl Oftentimes I am asked why is the Pinwheel Girl nude and why doesn’t she have breasts? Where are her hands? Feet? Does she have a face? Despite some absent features, her anatomy is very recognizable and simple. You know instantly when you see her that she is female but there is a lot of symbolism to her form. When I created her, much of her outcome was serendipitous. It wasn’t until I started really pondering her detail and lack of detail that I realized how much was there in the void. if you feel like you... [Read more]
Make a Soul Collage – An Inner Journey

I recently created a “soul collage.” The process took about 3-4 months and was part of an exciting transformative awakening I was experiencing. Archetypes, symbols, and themes make up the landscape of my Soul Collage I found that as I worked on my soul collage, a deeply healing process was at work allowing me to reclaim parts of myself that had long been hidden and forgotten, in need of excavation, and waiting to be nurtured back to emotional health. By newly focusing on the multi-faceted aspects of my personality, my long held dreams,... [Read more]
