Don’t Give Up – Just Rest

Resist the urge to give up on your dreams and pursuits.
When you get tired or discouraged, take a break for awhile and then come back. Often when we get tired and discouraged, we choose to quit instead of just take a rest. You do not always have to do, do, do, do all day long day-in and day-out.
We put a lot of pressure on ourselves to keep pushing and pushing towards what we are working for. But here’s the thing, everything must stop and start.
There must be pauses and rests. This applies to everything including your energy levels, your source of ideas, your creativity and inspiration, and all of your physical and spiritual abilities to pursue a dream. Practice patience with yourself if you are getting tired, not seeing the results you want quick enough, or you feel spent and drained.
Remember, your dreams never give up on you. They are always there.
Take the time you need to rest and rejuvenate and then get back to it.

This is just what I needed to hear today, so thank you! I am always feeling like I need to “go go go” and get things done, and then when I do rest, I feel guilty like I should be doing something. This was a great reminder that there needs to be time to rest and give yourself time to breathe so that all those creative ideas can come in!
Yep — you are so right, Rhonda! And I am very guilty of always saying “go, go, go!” too — and by that I hope I am offering encouragement and not a rally cry to constantly be busy! I do feel that there are times to be inactive, times to be restful, times to do absolutely nothing. That is one way in which we refill. If we look at any kind of growth, it occurs in bursts and pauses. Ours is the same but we get impatient if we are not continuously moving towards something. So, I’m now learning how to honor the pauses…I hope you are, too! Hugs!!!
Thanks for this reminder. I am much better at this since I quit being such a perfectionist. Have a glorious day.
That is great to hear, Patricia! Perfectionism does have a way of making us keep do, do, doing all day long without any pauses! We get so worn out from this that we often just want to give up on things that are very important to us when really all it is that we need is a rest. Best wishes to you…hugs!
